  34. Before installing Microsoft NFL Fever 2000, please uninstall any 
  35. previous versions of the game via the Control Panel, Add/Remove 
  36. Programs icon. To install, run Setup.exe from the root of the
  37. Microsoft NFL Fever 2000 CD. When setup is complete, you must
  38. restart your machine to play the game. 
  39.  
  40. Note: The first time you start the game, you will be shown the
  41. Options dialog. Adjust the Display, Sound, Performance, and
  42. Settings options to optimize NFL Fever 2000 performance on your
  43. machine. By default, only the lowest detail settings are selected.
  44. You can change game options in the future from the Options menu,
  45. which is located in the upper-right corner of the Main screen.

  47. Note: You can't change the display Driver and Resolution options
  48. once a game has started.

  54. * Multimedia PC with a 200 MHz processor 
  55.   (300 MHz or higher recommended)
  56. * Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98 operating system
  57. * 32 MB of RAM (64 MB recommended)
  58. * Quad-speed CD-ROM drive (8x or faster recommended)
  59. * Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
  60. * Windows 95 or Windows 98 compatible sound device
  61. * Headphones or speakers for audio
  62. * Super VGA, 16-bit color monitor
  63. * DirectX 6.1 (included on CD)
  64. * 2 MB VRAM card (for software rasterizer only) -or- 
  65.   4MB VRAM card (for hardware acceleration) 
  66. * 50 MB hard disk space (minimum install) Additional space 
  67.   is required for DirectX 6.1 installation and Windows swap file)
  68. * 50 MB or greater of virtual memory
  69. * Recommended: Microsoft Direct 3D-compliant 3D graphics

  77. Note: NFL Fever 2000 requires DirectX 6.1 for accelerated 3D
  78. graphics support, which is not supported on Windows NT 4.0 or
  79. earlier. You can install the game on NT, but this not supported
  80. or recommended.

  84. C. KNOWN ISSUES
  85. =================================================================
  86. * Team rosters and player ratings are accurate as of July 1, 1999. 
  87. Please visit the NFL Fever 2000 website to download an update 
  88. of this data.

  91. * If your computer has Mindspring Internet Service Provider
  92. software installed, a program called ARMON32.EXE may be running
  93. that can cause problems when NFL Fever 2000 tries to verify that
  94. its program CD is available. To temporarily disable ARMON32.EXE
  95. and avoid the problem, hold down CTRL+ALT+DELETE to bring up the
  96. Close Program window. Find ARMON32.EXE in the list of running
  97. programs, click on it, and choose End Task. Then, launch NFL Fever
  98. 2000.
  99.  
  100. * If you are running the game on Windows 95 Gold (Windows 95
  101. version 950), you may not hear audio in the game. To correct 
  102. this, install audio compression. To do this, click Start, 
  103. Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Windows Setup. 
  104. Under Components, select Multimedia, then click the Details 
  105. button. Check the Audio Compression box and click OK. Make 
  106. sure the Multimedia box is checked, and click OK. Then,
  107. restart NFL Fever 2000.
  108.  
  109. * Certain CD-ROM drives may have difficulty playing audio during 
  110. NFL Fever 2000 setup and/or the introductory video. This will 
  111. not effect gameplay.
  112.  
  113. * NFL Fever was designed to run with a 6-button (or more) 
  114. game pad, 8-button recommended. If your game pad does not have 
  115. a "Start" button, you will not be able to access the paused-
  116. game menu if you're playing with more than one player. If you 
  117. are playing with one player, you can press the keyboard ESC 
  118. key.
  119.  
  120. * In rare cases, the fonts required for NFL Fever 2000 do not 
  121. install correctly during Setup, and the text in the game UI is 
  122. unreadable. If this occurs, go to the \Game directory on the 
  123. NFL Fever 2000 CD and copy the following files to the 
  124. \windows\fonts directory on your machine:
  125.     - trebuc.ttf
  126.     - trebucbd.ttf
  127.     - trebucbi.ttf
  128.     - trebucit.ttf
  129.  
  130. * If you rename a user-created Play file, the internal name that
  131. is displayed in the game remains the same as it was.
  132.  
  133. * If you save a game, exit the game, and then make global
  134. changes, such as changing audibles or player attributes, then 
  135. those changes will not be reflected when you load the saved 
  136. game. The changes will be valid in games, seasons, and playoffs
  137. you begin after the global changes.
  138.  
  139. * If the Desktop and Window background colors on your machine
  140. are both set to light gray, you will not be able to see 
  141. right-click Help text in the game interface. To correct this, 
  142. exit NFL Fever 2000. Then, select Start, Settings, Control 
  143. Panel, Display, and Appearance. Under "Item:" select "Window" 
  144. and under "Color" select white. Restart NFL Fever 2000.
  145.  
  146. * If you are using any of the following video cards you may  
  147. experience graphics problems.  Please make sure you have the 
  148. latest drivers installed on your machine before
  149. running NFL Fever 2000 with these cards:
  150. ** Matrox Mystique 
  151. ** Matrox Millenium II 
  152. ** Rendition Verite 1000
  153. ** Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 
  154. ** Diamond Monster 3D
  155. ** Diamond Fire GL 1000 PRO
  156. ** Diamond Viper V330, V770, and V770 Ultra

  165. Card-specific information:
  166.  
  167. * Hercules Terminator Beast video card: You may experience
  168. problems running NFL Fever 2000 in the 1024x768 resolution. To
  169. solve this problem, please make sure you are using the latest
  170. drivers.
  171.  
  172. * Diamond Viper V330 video card: 3D hardware rendering may not be
  173. available. To fix this problem, download drivers from NVidia.com
  174. for the Riva 128.
  175.  
  176. * Diamond Viper V770 or V770 Ultra video
  177. card on Windows 95 Gold (Windows 95 version 950) or Windows 95 
  178. OSR2 (Windows 95 version 950B or 950C): You will not be able 
  179. to select the video card in the Display, Options dialog. You 
  180. will only be able to play NFL Fever 2000 in software mode. 
  181.  
  182. * ATI 3D Rage Pro-based video card: You may experience 
  183. problems with mipmapping, especially if filtering is off. We 
  184. recommend that you turn mipmapping off when using this card. 
  185. The mipmapping on/off selector is under Options, Display.
  186.  
  187. * ATI Rage Pro video card: This card does not support AGP on
  188. Windows 95 Gold (Windows 95 version 950) or 
  189. Windows 95 OSR2 (Windows 95 version 950B or 950C). In these
  190. configurations, you will only be able to run the game in
  191. 640x480 with low-resolution texture detail.
  192.  
  193. * ATI Rage IIc AGP video card: You may experience poor 3D graphics
  194. performance, even with the latest drivers for this card. We do not
  195. recommend using this card with NFL Fever 2000.
  196.  
  197. * NVidia RIVA 128/128ZX video card: You may experience problems
  198. with mipmapping. We recommend that you turn mipmapping off when
  199. using this card. The mipmapping on/off selector is under
  200. Options, Display.
  201.  
  202. * Creative Labs Graphics Blaster Exxtreme video card: If the
  203. card's name doesn't appear in the Options, Display, Driver list,
  204. please make sure you are using the latest drivers available. 
  205.  
  206. * Creative Labs Graphics Blaster Exxtreme video card: If you are
  207. using old drivers, the loading screen may appear corrupted and/or
  208. off-centered. This does not affect gameplay. 
  209.  
  210. * Voodoo II-based video card: The game may not use hardware
  211. acceleration. To correct this, please install the latest drivers
  212. for this card.
  213.  
  214. * STB Velocity 128 video card: You will encounter a
  215. performance hit before and during the first kickoff of a game 
  216. and during the first play from scrimmage. After the first few 
  217. plays, the performance should greatly improve.
  218.  
  219. * S3 Virge VX-based video card (e.g. Diamond Stealth 3D 3000):
  220. You may experience performance problems. We recommend that you
  221. run the game in software mode.
  222.  
  223. * RIVA TNT2-based video card: You may experience graphics
  224. problems if an edit-control window (such as Save Game) is open
  225. and you ALT-TAB to Windows and back to the game. If the dialog
  226. doesn't display properly after you ALT-TAB back to the game,
  227. right-click anywhere on the screen and then left-click (to bring
  228. up and dismiss help) to correct the problem. This will work for
  229. all edit-control dialogs except "Create Free Agent,"
  230. so do not ALT-TAB out of that screen. 
  231.  
  232. * RIVA TNT2-based video card: The card may not
  233. appear in the NFL Fever 2000 Options, Display, Drivers list. 
  234. The latest TNT2 reference drivers from NVidia will solve this 
  235. problem.
  236.  
  237. * ELSA Erasor III video card: You can fix the ALT-TAB problem
  238. described above for RIVA TNT2-based video cards by installing the 
  239. latest drivers for this card from ELSA. 
  240.  
  241. * If your machine includes two 2D/3D cards, the second card may
  242. not appear in the Drivers list under Options, Display. Please 
  243. consult your video card manufacturer for information on how to 
  244. disable a 2D/3D card.
